Mark your calendar for this year’s "Safety Street" at the California Lemon Festival in Goleta at Girsh Park, behind Costco and Home Depot. It is a fun event for kids and adults, and it’s free!
"Safety Street" features representatives from all of our local "Safety" agencies. From the Fire Department, Police Department, CHP, Sheriff, Coast Guard, Red Cross, Department of Forestry and many more. This event is the largest 2-day "Safety Street" gathering of all of our "Safety resources" in one location.
Have you ever wanted to climb inside a fire truck? How about sitting in the driver’s seat of a police car? What does it look like in the back of an ambulance? Are the Police Dogs friendly or mean? What do all of the uniformed officers really do on a daily basis? If you have these thoughts or questions, here is a place to get your answers! Would you like your kids to know about what to do in an emergency? How about making sure they are comfortable speaking to a police officer? Then join us Oct. 18th and 19th at Girsh Park – it’s FREE!
Some of the features are fire trucks, including a hook and ladder, jaws of Life, jet-skis, ambulances, paramedics, police cars and motorcycles, search & rescue dogs and their partners. We have sent out our request for CHP to bring the ejection simulator so you can experience a roll over without paying the price! SWAT truck, forensics, bomb truck with robot have also been invited to show! Meet your local officers and representatives from our local community. There will be lots of handouts and goodies for the kids.
One of the most exciting features will be the helicopter landings. We hope to have choppers from the Fire Department & Sheriff’s. Don't miss their entrance – it is really impressive! Then, get an up close and personal view of each of the helicopters.
All of this takes place from 10:00am – 6:00pm Saturday and 10:00am – 5:00 pm Sunday. It will be located at Girsh Park in Goleta, off Storke Road, behind Costco and Home Depot.
